About Nido: Nido In The Community
Nido Petroleum is committed to supporting the charity organisations that their employees are involved with.
Below are details of just some of the charities that have received beneficial support from Nido.
Nido Petroleum Philippines Supports the Local Community
Nido Petroleum Philippines Vice President Mr Leonardo Ote is responsible for co-ordinating local support.
On the 20th of February 2006 Nido gave a cash donation to the Province of Southern Leyte to provide essential supplies to the survivors of the St. Bernard mud slide. An entire village was buried under a mudslide including a school filled with students.
In April 2006 Nido also provided financial assistance for the construction of individual detached concrete houses for the St. Bernard survivors. The houses were completed and turned over to the beneficiaries in December 2006. Volunteers provided the labour in the construction and included professionals, students and employees.
In February 2007 Nido provided financial assistance to the survivors of the Typhoon Reming Mayon Volcano mudslide in Albay.
These donations were made in partnership with The Philippines Department of Energy, The Philippines National Oil Company, The Petron Foundation and Gawad Kalinga and presented by Leonardo Ote and Bert Garcia at the launching ceremonies.

Nido Supports Bravehearts
Nido’s Managing Director Mr David Whitby is President of the WA Management Committee for Bravehearts Inc.
Bravehearts Inc. is a charity that aims to change the way paedophilia is dealt with by the criminal justice sector, government and the community. The organisation also aims to provide survivors with a voice, advocating for both healing and preventative strategies. Bravehearts provides comprehensive counselling for child and adult survivors of child sexual assault and is actively involved in education, prevention, early intervention and research programs.
Bravehearts was founded by Hetty Johnston who created White Balloon Day in Brisbane during Child Protection Week, September 1997. After the revelation that a family member was a paedophile Hetty decided it was time to raise awareness in the community and lift the ‘cone of silence’ surrounding this issue. The white balloon was chosen as a symbol to demonstrate the issue and White Balloon Day is now an annual national event run by Bravehearts and widely supported by commercial, government and community sectors.
Bravehearts’ members comprise survivors, parents, friends, partners, professionals and non-abusive members of the community who share in the belief that child sexual assault must stop.
Bravehearts Inc Western Australian branch is located in Margaret River working with survivors and families from across the State.
Their services are free to all children and their non-offending family members. Bravehearts Inc WA also runs innovative counselling programs in schools. The Western Australian branch is growing steadily and relies solely on benefactors for donations to run the organization as all counselling and services are free.
For more information, see the Bravehearts Inc. website.

CASE for Refugees
Nido Company Secretary and In-House Legal Counsel, Maria Lamattina is the Convenor of the Board of Management.
The Centre for Advocacy, Support and Education for Refugees, Inc (CASE for Refugees) is the only community legal centre providing specialist refugee legal services in Western Australia. Since its establishment in 2002, CASE for Refugees has assisted over 1000 refugees in their applications for permanent protection visas and in seeking to be reunited with their families and loved ones. CASE for Refugees employs a small group of committed staff, but would not have achieved much of its success without the generosity and support of its many volunteers, including its Board of Management. CASE for Refugees is a not-for-profit organisation providing free legal services to those on low incomes and, as such, relies entirely on donations and grants from a variety of sources including the United Nations.
