About Nido: Index.old20070725
Nido Petroleum Limited (Nido) is an oil and gas explorer and producer. Its focus is exploration, development and production of its assets in the Philippines.
The Company was formed in July 1999 when the Sydney Oil Company Drilling Trust (SOCDET) incorporated and changed its name to Nido Petroleum Limited. As part of this change Nido 'inherited' SOCDET's interests in Service Contract 14 (SC 14) in the north-west Palawan Basin including the Nido and Matinloc oil production assets and the Galoc and West Linapacan oil fields.
At that time Novus Petroleum Ltd held 53.9% of the issued shares of the company and when this shareholding was sold in late 2001, Nido continued its focus on the Philippines while actively looking and assessing other opportunities elsewhere in the world.
In July 2004 the Company announced the appointment of a new Board, including current Managing Director Mr. David Whitby and new non-executive directors Mr. Gregor Dixon and Mr. James Brown. In May 2005 Mr. Dixon became Chairman of the Board and the following year, in May 2006, Mr. Vince Perez, former Philippines Secretary for Energy, joined the board as a non-executive director.
Nido Petroleum is based in Perth, Western Australia, and has offices in Manila, the Philippines.
