Nido is committed to enhancing shareholder value by conducting international oil and gas exploration, development and production in a manner that, through its Corporate Social Responsibility Programmes, shares part of the benefits of this activity with the communities in which it operates.

Nido has adopted a two-pronged approach to its Corporate Social Responsibility Programmes. This involves the Nido Petroleum Foundation, Inc. (Nido Foundation) in the Philippines and the Company's Charitable Donations Committee, which actively encourages and supports staff as they work in a range of community organisations in Australia and the Philippines.

Nido Petroleum Foundation, Inc

Since its incorporation and registration in June 2008, the Nido Petroleum Foundation has dedicated itself to assisting the youth of Philippine society by cultivating and encouraging social and civic development of the underprivileged communities.

In 2009, the Nido Petroleum Foundation sponsored the registration of some 3,000 new boy scouts in the Puerto Princesa area on the island of Palawan. Also, consistent with its objective of promoting health and physical well being, the Foundation sponsored the El Nido 3rd Cadlao Challenge Swimming Competition on 26 September 2009.

When Tropical Storm Ketsana (local name Ondoy) ravaged the country in September 2009, the Nido Petroleum Foundation was quick to provide assistance and relief to storm victims. Several types of relief assistance packages along with disaster relief equipment were turned over to some of the affected communities. Staff members from Nido's Manila offices were an integral part of this effort, providing much needed assistance to some of the families whose homes had been destroyed by floodwaters from the storm.

Staff Involvement

During 2009 the Company supported staff involvement with Keep Australia Beautiful campaign and Ronald MacDonald charities, amongst others.

Nido has also proudly supported the Mission Australia Christmas Lunch for the past two years. This initiative helps provide for those less fortunate in our community during the festive season.
